LEARNING DISABILITIES AND INTERVENTION 101

Teachers have the key to open their student's mind to boundless possibilities. The most challenging part is finding the right key. To identify the correct key, we should first find out what kind of lock or key hole we are about to open.

AIM: For teachers, this workshop will help reshape their teaching and thinking paradigm through a more profound empathy towards their students and through a more purposeful teaching. For parents, this workshop will help them in gaining a deeper understanding of their children's academic needs and how they can help support their children with school work.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, other providers, and parents.

DESCRIPTION : In this 90-minute workshop, teachers and parents will review the different kinds of learning disabilities and the corresponding strategies or interventions.  They will have a deeper understanding of how the mind works in relation to these disabilities.  Teachers will learn new strategies or enhance what they already have while parents will increase their knowledge on how to support their children with school work. At the end of the workshop, participants will take away an LD and Intervention 101 Booklet that summarizes the session.
